Graffiti Art Project at Conwy Borough FC

A “Graffiti Art” Project, has taken place at Conwy Borough’s Y Morfa stadium over the past few weeks.

Led by renowned local artist, Andrew Birch, the activity provided both young & older Vi-Ability project participants with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the Graffiti Art form, and a chance to develop their own personal artistic skills.

A number of 16-18 year olds and over 50’s from across the borough of Conwy who are all involved in Vi-Ability projects, attended over the course of a week; and with Mr Birch’s supervision painted a mural.

Featuring a Conwy player, the landmark Conwy Castle and a Knight (in shining armour!), the Mural can now be seen at Y Morfa football ground, giving Conwy supporters and visitors a focal point in the main North stand at the ground.

On completion of the Graffiti Art Project Artist Andrew Birch said:
“The three day workshop at Conwy went really well and everyone really enjoyed themselves! They were eager to involve themselves with the painting of the mural, listened well to the health & safety instructions and enjoyed the actual spraying part.”

Conwy Borough Chairman Geoff Cartwright was delighted with the results: “Everyone has commented how good it looks and the participants have all done a fantastic job under the expert guidance of Andy and we are really grateful for their efforts.”
